DIKW pyramid
The DIKW pyramid is a hierarchical model that represents the relationships between data, information, knowledge, and wisdom.
- Data: Raw facts and figures without context of meaning (e.g., numbers, symbols, observations)
- Information: Data that has been processed, organized, or structured to provide context and meaning
- Knowledge: Information that has been interpreted, integrated with experience, and applied to understand patterns and relationships
- Wisdom: Knowledge enriched with insight, judgement, and ethical understanding that guides descision-making and action

Knowledge vs wisdom
Knowledge is about understanding "what" and "how", while wisom involves judgement about "when", "why", and "whether" to apply that knowledge. Wisdom incorporates ethical considerations, contextual awareness, and discernment that goes beyond factual understanding.
